Party planning, with the numbers on the table.

Good parties.
Real budgets.

Ten Google office locations. Five years of inflation. One question: how far does $300 per person go when families and partners are invited?

Researched September 29, 2026
Historical window: 2021–2025. Current planning: September 2026.

Family party 4 admissions
One annual employee budget$300÷ 6 guest visits = $50 each
Couples party 2 admissions

Illustrated assumption: employee + 3 family guests,
then employee + 1 partner. Change it below.

$300 annually per employee calls for two modest events. A casual family gathering in a low-cost or existing space, plus a restrained restaurant evening, is a more plausible target than two staffed private-venue parties. At $300 per actual attendee per event, the modeled midrange options fit comfortably.

The cost of bringing everyone together.

Current planning estimates per attendee, in USD. A family buffet and an adult dinner have different budgets.

FamilyCouples
These are planning estimates, not measured citywide averages. Public sources provide rental averages and individual menus, but no consistent five-year city-level series for hosted corporate parties. We combine those references with explicit allowances. Bars show the model midpoint; ranges are ±25% scenarios, not statistical confidence intervals.

Each event uses a 100-attendee benchmark and six rental hours, including setup and cleanup. Family: buffet, soft drinks, simple activities. Couples: dinner, a capped drinks allowance, modest entertainment. Both include service, a tax/fees allowance, and contingency. See the full calculation.

What do the published venue averages actually say?

Peerspace reports these hourly event-space averages. Its inventory mixes sizes, activities, and nearby markets. Several pages show an overall mean below their “smaller venue” figure; we do not use those numbers as a quality-matched corporate-party ranking. The planning model uses the separately reported larger-venue figure. Capacity and availability still require quotes.

The per-attendee conversion is larger-space hourly rate × 6 ÷ 100. It is a model allocation, not a published per-person rate or confirmation of capacity. Seattle proxies Kirkland; Cambridge proxies the Boston hub.

The same dollars buy a smaller party.

Five annual observations, 2021–2025. National BLS price indexes, normalized to 2021 = 100.

This measures changes in national prices, not actual event spending. Local venue demand, wages, minimum spends, and event format can move differently.

Five calendar years versus five elapsed years

The main view includes 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025: five observations and four annual changes. For five elapsed years, use the 2020 annual average as the starting baseline.

2026 is incomplete and is shown separately. Historical estimates are anchored to current researched prices using the August 2026 CPI observation; that is a transparent normalization assumption, not proof that a September venue quote tracks August inflation.

What the same event would cost in earlier years.

Inflation-backcast estimates; not historical invoices. Blended cost weights four family admissions and two couples admissions.

Modeled nominal USD, 2021–2025

Backcasting by an inflation proxy cannot establish whether actual party costs outpaced inflation. Similar growth across cities follows from the model, rather than an observed local trend. Download all years, both formats, and the assumptions.

Put your $300 to work.

Start with who the budget covers. Then count everyone who walks through the door.

Include the employee in each attendance count. All guests count equally; no child discount or attendance attrition is assumed. Costs scale from the 100-guest benchmark, so large or small events need capacity and minimum-spend checks.

A practical way to aim for $300 annually.

Set all-in caps of $35 per family attendee and $65 per couples attendee. With four and two admissions, that spends $270 per employee and leaves $30 unallocated.

These are procurement targets, not verified packages. They require an existing or inexpensive space, casual catering, limited alcohol, and little paid production. For high-cost sites, the couples event may need to be a shorter reception or an on-campus dinner.

Family: 4 × $35$140
Couples: 2 × $65$130
Unallocated buffer$30
Annual employee budget$300

What’s included. What’s assumed.

The event basket

Venue: six hours at the published larger-space hourly reference, shared across 100 attendees. Family food allowance: $26–$40; soft drinks: $5; activities and basic supplies: $10. Couples food allowance: $50–$90; capped drinks: $25 ($35 in New York); entertainment and supplies: $15.

Food allowances are analyst-selected, informed by the linked local menus and the ezCater service-style guide. They are not averages of a representative city sample. Lower-priced trays and premium restaurant menus are contextual anchors, not interchangeable products.

The complete bill

Add a 20% service/gratuity allowance to food and drink, then 10% for tax and fees on the subtotal, then 10% contingency. These are uniform planning allowances, not local tax rates or vendor-specific terms. Do not duplicate them when a quote already includes staffing, service, or gratuity.

Includes a modest allowance for basic event needs. Excludes travel, lodging, shuttles, childcare, gifts, major AV, external planners, premium production, and any exceptional insurance or security requirement. Restaurant packages may already include space; do not add a second venue charge.

Historical reconstruction

Food, beverages, and their service allowance follow national food-away-from-home CPI (CUUR0000SEFV). Venue and activities follow headline CPI (CPIAUCNS). Historical cost = current component × annual index ÷ August 2026 index. Percentage allowances stay fixed.

Inflation inputs are unadjusted monthly BLS observations from FRED, averaged by calendar year. October 2025 is missing, so 2025 uses the 11 available months. This is an inflation scenario, not a causal estimate or a local venue-price index.

How to use the ranges

Every midpoint gets a ±25% planning envelope. This is a sensitivity test, not a measured percentile range. Holiday Saturdays, venue minimums, union labor, weather contingencies, and premium drinks can exceed it.

The ten-city mean weights each location equally. It is not weighted by Google headcount, market size, or event frequency. No internal Google spending data or company event policy is used.

Why these ten locations?

The six requested cities are retained. Four substantial Google hubs add geographic breadth; this is not a top-ten headcount ranking. Google’s office directory confirms offices in all ten markets.

  • Seattle / Kirkland: Google’s major Washington engineering presence. A 2022 report cited 7,200 Washington employees, mostly in these hubs; that is historical statewide evidence, not a current city count.
  • Austin: Google’s Sail Tower office announcement documents continuing investment in this major Texas office location.
  • Cambridge / Boston: the City of Cambridge’s FY2024 report lists Google with 2,100 employees; Google describes more than 30 teams in Cambridge.
  • Atlanta: Google’s 2022 office announcement reports over 1,000 employees across Georgia, including Atlanta offices and the Douglas County data center. This establishes a substantial regional presence, not 1,000 Atlanta office staff.
